Stop the New Road Tracking Tax

Slightly off topic ~ unless your an EY worker that owns a vehicle !!

The government are planning on introducing a new taxation that will involve us (drivers) buying a tracking device and paying a monthly bill according to our use.
The tracking device will cost about £200 and in a recent study by the BBC, the lowest monthly bill was £28 for a rural florist and £194 for a delivery driver. A non working Mum who used the car to take the kids to school paid £86 in one month.

Obviously this is not just extra money (and lets face it we pay enough tax as it is) but there is also the issue that we will have all our movements tracked and someone knowing where we've been, where we go and what we do which is a serious infringement on our human rights!! Also, they will know the speed at which you are going at all times so as well as the monthly bill you could also receive a speeding fine and points on your license.

I have also had the unduly "pleasure" of having spoken to someone on this subject - Terence Bendixson, Secretary for the Independent Transport Commission, the a$$holes who backed the government up saying this was a "good idea".

Lets just say, I quizzed this guy, and he couldn't answer my questions, or the reasons why other possible options are not first in the list but instead Road Charging...

Anyways, when I reallly put it to him all he could say was everyone should ride a bike.

How nice... tbh its people like him which make me worried about who's running the country.

Whilst we are all in agreement that something 'sensible needs to be done to alleviate particular road problems, this seems ludicrously unfair and indeed as Jayne states a complete and utter infringement of our privacy.

i do agree, i also think it is unfair for disabled people,
my hubby is disabled and cant ride a bike or walk any distance really.
so we have to use the car if he is with us!

is there going to be less tax for these people, many people qualify for free tax anyways!

Well I've certainly signed it, and hubby too. DH drives for around 1 hour 20 mins each day to work and back on a dual carriageway, plus any extra miles we clock on - we do around 17-18,000 miles a year! I've also passed it on to everyone I know, so fingers crossed!:crossfing Also, the suspicious part of me made me read the signees list, and yes, there was more than one name that I recognised!
