Default new EYFS

Hello everyone, Ive been away from here for a while as been really busy with foundation degree which I have almost completed but thought I would quickly pop in and get everyones advice and opinions on the new revised EYFS.
From my understanding there is less emphasis on the planning for under 2's except 3 areas of learning..communication and language....physical development and personal, social and emotional development with a progress report at age 2 although we must show we are supporting their learning in all 7 areas of learning. aged 2-3 the same but more support in other areas with another progress report at age 3 then the main focus is for children aged 3-5 with planning and obs in all 7 areas of learning.
am I on the right tracks or have I understood it all wrong??

Have you read through the new documentation yet?
I've only had a quick glance- although it almost killed the printer printing it all off.
I'm not going to even look at it during the holidays- (I AM NOT GOING TO WORK DURING MY TIME OFF!!!!- I must keep teeling myself this!)

Not sure about the 2yr checks though!! Ok, we're possibly better placed than HV with regards of 'knowing' the child........ but are we being used as a cheap option I ask?
That said, it seems to be what we've moved towards anyway with all of our children -next steps planning for each child.

I've had a quick glance at it, have a copy of it on my iPad so it's there when I need it :-)
