Thank you A Sensory Room

These are a few ideas that you can use to create a Sensory room..

SMELL

Plants ~ Lavendar, Rosemary, Lemongrass, Artemesia - Crush a leaf gently to release the smell of these plants - NB: They are NOT edible.

Air Fresheners can be used - but keep them out of the childrens reach.

Bake bread and biscuits and .. use all the other senses to enjoy them !!

TASTE

As above with food ...

TOUCH

Have carpet squares on the floor that have different textures.

A Plasma ball is great Touch as well as Sight!

Wood, Stones, Leaves, Sand, Soil in a shallow tray are great for exploring within the hand.

Water fountain ornaments are wonderful for Touch, Sight and Hearing.

SIGHT

Fairy lights and small lamps.

Lamps/lights that have on & Off switches.

Torches and shadow puppets.

Optical fibre lights ~ There is a huge selection of optical lighting that changes colours over a period of time.

Colours - bright bold and Calm Pastels
Warm colours & Cold Colours

Curtains & Blinds that allow you to demonstate light and dark.

HEARING

Animal sound toys
Cassettes & tapes / CDs
Musical Instuments - especially 'Reindeer bells'

A hammer and different types of everyday objects that can create differnt tones.

Please keep on adding ...
