I can help you start off, i;m doing this at the moment too...

Sustained Shared Thinking is important because;
• Practitioners support and challenge the children’s thinking by getting involved in the thinking process with them, letting them know they are not alone in their thought processes.
• Children start to build up responsive and trusting relationships with their caregivers.
• Children see that adults have a genuine interest in their interests; they offer encouragement and ask open questions to encourage the child to think for themselves.
Essentials to encourage Sustained Shared Thinking include asking open ended questions as this does not put children on the spot to find the right answer. Questions such as “What did you notice about…?” “What would happen if…?” Adult modelling; allow the children to see you demonstrating a problem solving task for your own real life. The last essential is freely chosen play activities for children to engage in as this allows the children to become self motivated and absorbed.
