Hi

i wrote about:
• Eye to eye contact.
• Hand and facial gestures (non verbal) which usually shows emotions and feelings.
• PECS (picture exchange communication), sign language (Makaton, sign-a-long etc)
• Lip reading.
• Visual clues (now and next chart, timetable).
• Phonecalls.
• E-mails/letters.
• Reports.
• Caanan Barrie

i wrote about the environment and how i would make sure that it wasn't noisy, if the information was private e.g. in an office or wherever there was confidentiality (not just parents but outside agencies too), concentrate on giving the right information, making sure that the information was understood, make sure that a two way conversation flows, allow enough space between you and whoever you are talking to e.g. parent or child, body language, eye contact, posture, do not show that you are bored in conversation, listening skills, observe, the amount of time that adults and children need to process information, pause when waiting for an answer. then i gave a few examples of good practice when we use these.

hope it helps if not will try and clarify it more for you.

Lynne
