Hi, for England, the eyfs (2008) exists to enable children to fulfil the 5 positive outcomes of ECM (2003) which itself provides a framework for children and young people 0-19 year olds. The documented outcomes of eyfs 2008 & 2012 are the learning goals as they set the goals or outcomes that it's hoped individuals of this age group will attain by the time the eyfs ends for them xx

The overarching aim of the EYFS is to help young children achieve the five Every Child Matters outcomes of staying safe, being healthy, enjoying and achieving, making a positive contribution, and achieving economic well-being by:
In contrast, there is no ECM reference within the new September 2012 edition

As well as the ELGs documented outcomes are also the 5 positive outcomes of ECM every child matters

• Be Healthy
• Stay Safe
• Enjoy and Achieve
• Make a Positive Contribution
• Achieve Economic Well-being
