Greeting them in a friendly way, helping them seperate from their parents/carers/ finding out about their interests, including them in activities, encouraging them to make friends, valuing them as an individual eg their culture and background, if they are EAL find out a few phrases in their language, or have a "hello" display in lots of languages, display the children's work, praise and reward the children, spend time getting to know them, if possible, let the child have a peg where they can keep their stuff, having a positive relationship with their parents, help them feel welcome through a "settling in" routine eg visits to the setting with parents, spending an hour or so there without their parents etc..Circle time where children have a chance to have their say and feel valued....
