Hi, you're expected to understand what BESD - Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties are so you can support children with these needs, know what the law is and how your school meets it. Page 273 of the STL handbook looks at all this.

You'll find it helpful to ask your school about the policies they have for BSED and what teaching your tutor has planned for the unit.

Psychological needs are for social interaction - encouraging cooperation between children & young people, support to manage behaviour - communicate feelings, needs, ideas, make decisions, take responsibility for own actions, find ways to refocus when self-control has been lost, self management to develop self-reliance and self-esteem, providing opportunities to learn about emotions and the range of disorders that impact on behaviour, social and emotional development.

This PDF from IOE may also help - Behavioural, Emotional, Social Difficulties

Best wishes
