Residential childcare in practice: making a difference on amazon.co.uk
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi, this will depend on the history of a case and who was/is involved with the child's referral (agencies, organisations) and the places that the child was expected to stay.

The different type of care arrangements include:

Staying with parents (compulsory supervision)
Kinship care
Foster care
Children's homes
Residential schools

The information on this page may help:

Needs of looked-after children and young people on nice.org

3.1 A great majority of children who become looked after do so because of abuse, neglect or family dysfunction that causes acute stress among family members. Entry into care is usually a traumatic experience and brings with it a significant sense of loss that can be insufficiently recognised in care planning. Older children in care may also experience significant problems at school. For those children and young people who remain in long-term care creating a sense of belonging and emotional security is vital to their health and wellbeing.

RCC 3.17 Understand the care system and its impact on children and young people

Best wishes
