A nice way to see what you hope children will gain from a book is to identify what you found interesting or new and how that relates to children's learning.

I'll throw in with autumn themed leaf trouble a book that can move on to support leaf painting and print taking. The story offers the opportunity to discuss why leaves drop during autumn in preparation for the coldness of winter.

Any sterilising fluid kept in the setting can be used for washing down real leaves before drying them for painting & printing. A great way to show risk assessed preparation for an activity - sort for leaf spot & clean/discard those with leaf mould, powdery mildew.

Best wishes with the assessment xx
