Hi
i attended a communication course the other week and i work with 2/5 year olds and i was told that during early years we should,nt be introducing jolly phonics i personally agree with this. We were told that if a child doesn't learn jolly phonics the right way e.g. with the right use of their tongue/lips voice box etc then this can cause them to have difficulties when they are older and causes more problems for the teacher and salt because the child then has to be untaught and taught the correct way.
I also understand that if you have a gifted child that needs challenging then this should be an option but with a trained member of staff, which lets be honest probably won't happen in early years but we can hope.
