How can you positively valve diversity?
dressing up activities eg sari's, cooking activities, displays, multi-language posters eg welcome or hello in different languages, celebrations eg Eid, Diwali, Hannukah, Ramadan, Christmas, listening to music from different cultures eg steel band, reading stories from different cultures.
Why is it important to demonstrate acceptance of childrens differences?
Children should learn that they are all unique and special, but that everyone has the right to be included and valued. This is vital for a child's development as it ties in with self image and self esteem.

Why should you help children to choose realistic goals?
It would be wrong for a child to choose unrealistic goals for themselves - if they choose a goal that is too easy to achieve this is not furthering them in their development and may lead to boredom and set off some challenging behaviour, if they set themselves a goal which is too hard to achieve they may get frustrated when they are unable to reach their goal and their self esteem and self confidence might be damaged.
Why must these goals be realistic but at the same time giving them a challege?
These goals must be realistic so that they are acheivable by the child eg not too easy so that they become bored and not to difficult so that they loose their self confidence. However the goals must set them a certain amount of challenge because this is helping children move forward in their development.

How can you help children to predict, recognise and accept the consequences of their actions within your setting?
Having circle or group time to discuss such things as breaking toys, upsetting someone, taking someone's toy or tearing a book belonging to the setting. eg What do you think would happen if you took Mary's toy? (predict) How do you think she will feel? (recognise) What could you do to make it better? (accept).
