Hiya, I've not read through much myself but would say it might be the evolutionary way we are programmed to learn .. or to be able to switch off when necessary
It does sound quite automated but would think it also means our disposition to learning - from the immediate environment / provision of others and the ability to commit to memory/experience and use it as reflection, future recall/action ?
