What is meant by 'appropriate' and 'inappropriate' behaviour when interacting with children, the policies and procedures to follow and why these are important.

:fryingpan need to put kids to bed, just can't finish this question off - does this sound right?

'It is important to follow legal requirements and policies to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the children in the setting'.

Do I need to add anything else?

I definately think you need to expand on that answer, e.g appropriate language, anti discriminatory play etc, you surely need examples?
Link appropriate and inappropriate behaviour to your policies as well

I have listed 'appropriate' and 'inappropriate' behaviour, and linked to policies in setting, just need to put why proceedures policies are important to follow, just can't seem to find the right words to say why these are important!

Appropriate behaviour within a setting should be maintained throughout as children learn and follow our actions and attitudes. We should ensure we are at all times a good role model for the children and ensure we are polite and courteous but professional at all times to everyone involved, we should always be non abusive and use appropriate language. We should always be friendly with the children but not act in a childish way, we should show respect and use eye contact when interacting with people. Inappropriate behaviour is unacceptable within any childcare setting as children will follow this behaviour and possibly act it out. Childcare workers should also understand what physical contact is acceptable and not acceptable i.e. picking up a young child would be classed as acceptable where as picking up a older child would be classed as unacceptable behaviour, we should also consider weather the child actually wants to be picked up. Inappropriate behaviour within a childcare setting can lead to disciplinary action against the childcare worker as stated in their policies and procedures so we should always ensure we as professionals follow the behaviour policies.
