Suncream policy wording?
 

:cheerful: Does anyone have a policy/procedure that I could possibly have a look at?

Also any ideas on what to put into a Suncream consent form would be greatly apperciated..

So far I have ...
What brand of cream & factor Number the group will use on the child.
Who to speak to in the event of a concern.
Quick look reference box ~ to flick through the sheets and see child's name & if consent has been given or not.
Signature/date area

We also have a sheet with our register for parents to tick to say they have applied suncream before the 2.5 hr session as well, then we only need to worry about the little ones that are with us all day, as the suncream applied by their parents should last for the 2.5 hrs.

Had a look at our policy while at work today, its a sun protection policy

Statement of intent:
to help promote the children's awareness of 'safety in the sun' the staff will follow these guidelines:

1. Promote awareness through discussions, stories and activities on 'safety in the sun'

2. We will provide shaded areas in the garden, tents, gazebo's etc

3. All staff will wear sun hats in the garden.

4. All children will wear sunhats in the garden, there will be spare ones provided by the pre-school incase anyone does not have one.

5. Suitable clothing must be worn, shoulders should be covered.

6. Parents must apply suncream to the children before the start of the session, and sign a form to say they have (form kept in register). If parents have signed the form and the child gets burnt it is not the pre-schools responsibilty.

7. All parents must supply suncream from the spring half-term, in its original container, with written permission to staff to supervise children applying suncream.

8. Whenever possible children will be in the sun for no longer than 30 minutes at a time between the hours of 11am - 3pm when the sun is at its hottest.

9. Freshwater is always available.

Not sure if that will be any help but its what we use. FARLEYS

Children should notbe in the sun from 12noon till at least 2p.m. They should have sun cream applied twice a day.Remember creams must be marked with the name of the child and only used for thatnchild.Some children can react to different creams.

Adding to Farleys point above we ask our parents to provide us with a new bottle and it dated when it is open to keep with the use by date. And also that our staff were gloves when applying sun cream and change for each child.
