Looking at sources of info, current research and best practice, into what is understood by positive health and well-being for children,
|
I would have thought searching online would help loads - there is always stuff in the media about health and well being for children - and lots of different arguements about what's good etc. Breastfed babies vs formula, heavy birthweight vs low birthweight, 5 a day, obesity etc etc. Try the direct.gov website and you'll get loads of answers!

sources of info - where do you find out your information? Web, magazines, government guidelines, training, meetings? current reseach - what is the current belief? ( from current research) 5 a day providing a balance diet children often prefer to eat little and often best practice? what is best giving children a lump of staturated fat for snack? or a balanced snack of something such as crackers, cheese and raisins? positive health and well-being health for children - children feeling well (physically) and feeling good (emotionally). physical play outdoors and indoors, positive welcoming friendly ethos in setting, valuing and respecting everyone including children, happy warm atmosphere etc How does the above information influence your setting to provide what is best for children? Do you implement best practice upon current way of thinking and learning or ignore it? Our society (and other countries) are always researching, reflecting, rethinking and changing current beliefs. Our government will then put out the new findings and campaigns and encourage us all to follow them. Presently we are being told that our nation is eating too much fat - we are no longer doing as many manual jobs or walking as we once did in 1950's. The government are trying to encourage us to not use our cars as much and to eat less fattening foods and eat fresh fruit and vegetables, hence the 5 a day campaign - which many countries are following. In the USA the campaign goes under 'High Five'. The government are encouraging children (by way of the EYFS curriculum and outdoor physical play) to have more physical exercise to combat future obesity - the findings state that children are spending too long in front of the television and computers instead of running around as children in the past did. |
