unit 412 K4D975 : How to adapt your practice to meet care
 

I know its a bit quiet around at the moment and everyone is probably enjoying their holidays but I'm ploughing through my opptional units and am stuck on how to answer this one...
K4D975 - 5 How to adapt your practice to meet care, learning and play needs for children with whom you work, including different genders, ethnicities, ages and abilities, including children with disabilities and special educational needs, including:
• Providing a differentiated programme
• Using indoor and outdoor space effectively
• Providing a range of good-quality, culturally relevant equipment and activities
• Ensuring the environment is stimulating and interesting and still provides opportunity for privacy and quiet areas for children

If anyone could give me any pointers I would be very grateful - Thanks

uhm firstly observe the children, be awear of their needs by lialasing with the parents and other proffecionals or family involved with that child.

adapting practice to meet individual care needs by-noting/recording any illnesses etc finding out about their condition, using specialist equiptment if needed, have a care plan/routiene e.g. if the child requires a sleep during the afternoon their individual routiene care plan would be to allow that to happen by providing a quiet space/sleeping room etc

learning needs-firstly observe the children find out their individual ability, likes dislikes, learning style, look at age and stages of development, plan effectivly, ensure all children can access activities and get the oppertunity, flexability, ensure the activities etc can be adapted e.g painting activities increases learning as it develops the childs.....it can be adapted to meet all the childrens individual needs as children with lower ability can use fingers or large paint brushes sponges etc children with high ability can use fine paint brushes or be encouraged to paint in detail etc

play-plenty of reasorces, childs level toys, set out into areas, get childrens ideas, allow children to make desisions etc, use anti bias anti discriminatory practice, celerbrate differences by useing things representing differences role play area can be of diff jobs, have clothes from diff cultures, chinese restront, ethnic and white dolls etc

policies, curriculum, law and theorists and ages and stages quotes should be included,

group actities, one to one, structured, unstructured, adult led, child led, free play

how will equipment etc meet the needs of lots of children, your interaction with each child according to their age and stage etc penni tassoni says at 2 a child is able to understand more than they can talk and thinks faster than they can speak therefore to meet their individual needs i would talk at their level and use appropriate level language i would also allow the child time to talk and get to know them well enough to understand how they are feeling by watching their expression etc however with an older child i would chat to them using more complex language as they will have a better understanding and bigger vocab.
