Unit 414 question K4D993. Can anyone help with this question. I don't seem to be able to find any prices of specialist equipment. I did ask in the S.E.N. department with in the school but they weren't very helpful. Any help will be appreciated. Nearly finished this Unit and only one more to go :applause:

It might be easier to list some specific disabilities and then if possible use your search engine to look for related equipment. Online directories for large / small suppliers, maybe see if their websites have any testimonials or customer reviews on the products ?

I was very impressed, if initially confused the other day to see a 'largish local shop start selling adult motorised wheelchairs alongside their range of birthday cards & cushion covers :wide-eyed:dizzy: lol, it can only be good though as the price for specialist equipment can be pretty amazing. Am thinking there must be an incredible amount of research and development that goes into individual products to warrant some of the retail prices ..

Action for Kids has good information that looks at some of the funding issues for disability.

I'm not sure what - if any, & how large a gap there might be between private health care provision of aids & state provision - quantity, quality, cost, access & maintenance.

I've had a look at some of these sites, the price of what could be essential equipment for parent/carers especially when the child gets older and more difficult to physically handle, is extremely expensive, if they had to purchase it themselves.

There are some good Voluntary Organizations out there, but there is a process to go through regarding medical checks etc. Which i can imagine may mean a long drawn out process.
