Safer food Better Business - Has anyone had experience of this ?

I don't use it per se, but I have read and disseminated a copy for using with my kitchen risk assessment - it' s good stuff but a bit heavy for childminders! :D

I was talking about this to another childminder the other day - she said why did I bother doing fridge temp checks every day?... As I told her, in today's litigious society, if a child got food poisoning and the parent had to take time off work... who would get the blame? Well it certainly wouldn't be the parent, now would it? It would be my insurance she claimed against if she was a self employed saleswoman and missed a bit sale or something.

But if I can show I have a safe temp in my fridge, recorded every day and I probed all cooked food to check it was 75c before serving (and recorded that as well)... then I'm a long way towards covering my back...

Sorry! :soapbox:

I use it.

As sarah said, its a bit heavy for childminders, but its straightforward to use and does the job nicely once you've got it up and running
