Childminding to Day care services ?

Has anyone begun in Childminding and found they expanded out into full daycare services ?

Is it a path you'd recommend to others involved in childcare ?

New building, rent or room conversions, employing staff or taking on a business partner - how did you find everyone handled the transition from one title change of Care provision to another ?

Hi, I started as a Daycare Provider but de-registered to a childminder because of family commitments, I must say as the children came along. As they got older I then explore the possibilities of re-registering as a Day Nursery. Have explored a middle option and came up with a Childminder Working With Multiple Assistants. I am now registered to care for 16 children. This is far more economical as all my bills are still domestic.

I work with my husband as my assistant within our home as childminders.

I've been told that if you employ, or work with, more than 2 other people on private premises you are classed as a business and must apply for planning permission and pay business rates.
