Hi, this EYE book was published in 2014, a year before The Counter Terrorism Act, Prevent Duty and British values came into force in 2015. If you haven't received any guidance from your tutor about this you'll need to piece together a response to the criteria.

For example:

Page 59 looks at how the key-person system enables practitioners to promote individual children's well-being in relation to the current framework (EYFS if in England)

and page 17 of EYFS states:

The 2015 Counter Terrorism and Security Act places a duty on early years providers “to have due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism” (the Prevent duty)

Providers must have regard to the government's statutory guidance ‘Working Together to Safeguard Children 2015’ and to the ‘Prevent duty guidance for England and Wales 2015’.

All schools are required to have regard to the government’s ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ statutory guidance, and other childcare providers may also find it helpful to refer to this guidance.

If providers have concerns about children's safety or welfare, they must notify agencies with statutory responsibilities without delay. This means the local children's social care services and, in emergencies, the police.

Fundamental British Values was part of England's response to the Terrorism the UK had been experiencing pre 2015 and the five values are: Democracy, Rule of Law, Respect and Tolerance, Individual Liberty.

An Early Years' key-person system enables practitioners to observe and assess individual children's development on a daily basis so they are best placed to see if any changes in behaviour, communication and language have or are becoming a concern.

Hope this helps xx
