Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools Level 3 Diploma RQF

Hi,

I have just started this course through NCC Home Learning and was wondering if there was anyone else in the same boat? I have completed the first couple of questions in Unit 1 and am finding it a little harder than I first imagined!

Is there anyone who is doing the same course?

Just to add, I would love to hear book recommendations too! I already have Brilliant Teaching Assistant by Louise Burnham and am guessing after reading multiple threads that the Children and Young People's Workforce is a must. Any experience or other recommendations?

Hi,
I am doing this course with Stonebridge. I am on assignment 5 at the moment. I also am finding it harder than first thought. I have just ordered a copy of Louise Burnham book CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning. People are saying this one is the most up to date for this course.

However i also have the older version too.

Hope this helps.

That’s really helpful thanks Binnie! My reading list is growing longer and longer, I hope eBay are prepared!

Hi a very warm welcome to the site. Your tutor or course provider will also be able to recommend a list of reading and tell you which text book is most closely matched to your qualification xx

Best wishes

Hi! Thank you :)

I have been given a reading list but most of it seems to be tailored at the Early Years, and as I'll be working with KS1 it isn't as useful as I'd hoped. I've been through quite a few threads and there seems to be lots of similar questions, even from those who are doing a different course, so I guess I'll find useful info in other books too, even if they aren't tailored to my specific course :)

Hi, I started this course last June through Stonebridge and with ePearl as the provider. When I enrolled I was supporting Year 3 every morning and running the nurture groups in the afternoons. Since September I have been in the nurture groups every morning and running Language Links interventions in YrR in the afternoons. I am on unit 13, Supporting Assessment for Learning, and I am having to fill in more of the session sheets. This is proving difficult for me as I am struggling with showing how I am demonstrating this in my daily practise. I have emailed my tutor and asked if I can answer this from an emotional development angle but she wasn't very clear in her answer (she has already made a comment on an earlier unit that I hadn't given enough information as a TA but accepted my answer as a 'specialised extension of the TA role'. I also find that I am overthinking how to complete the session sheets as I have no-one to compare with. Is there anyone else feeling this way?

Hi, I started this course back in February and am currently trying to complete my first unit (Understanding child and young person development) I too am finding it harder than I thought it was going to be but am finding this forum really helpful! The book I have been recommended by my tutor is this one and so far its proved quite useful!

Kaz, I am still near the beginning of this course but I have looked through the ‘witness statements’ that the teacher at school is meant to fill in and can’t imagine how I’m going to prove myself in those areas! I think the course overall is very overwhelming but I have to keep reminding myself that it won’t be for long!
