take appropriate steps when the actions of others are discriminatory- 034PC23,


support key people and other to recognise and respect the background and preferences of the child 034PC24

work with the child or young person in ways that recognise impact that experiences, losses and life events have had on their lives

Can anyone help with these questions? :(

They'll be looking at the relationship you have with key people in the setting and the ways you engage, interact with colleagues, parents and others in support of the diverse range of backgrounds that your children have.

How you challenge discrimination, suggest solutions, encourage active participation, independence and responsibility, helping them to be safe by empowering them with information and choice, seeking advice and support when needed.

Definitions from the Promote the Safeguarding of Individuals unit

NOTE: Where an individual finds it difficult or impossible to express their own preferences and make decisions about their life, achievement of this standard may require the involvement of advocates or others who are able to represent the views and best interests of the individual.

Key people are those who are important to an individual and who can make a difference to his or her well being. Key people may include family, friends, carers and others with whom the individual has a supportive relationship.

A person’s background is the individual’s unique mix of personal experiences, history, culture, beliefs, preferences, family relationships, informal networks and community.

Consider how time is give to work with the child or young person in ways that recognise the impact that experiences, losses and life events have had on them.
