1. explain national and local legislation and policies surrounding recording , storing and sharing both verbal and written information:SOS help

2. describe possible situations where you would have a consider maintaining confidentiality and the need to disclose information for the welfare of the child

Nationally the need to record, store and share information is guided by

The Data Protection Act
The Freedom of Information Act
Your home nation's framework - if in england it will be EYFS

Locally this will be how you record, store and share information for your Local Authority, professional partners and your setting's policies & procedures - how recording, storing & sharing actually happens in the workplace.

Situations are explored on page 92 of the workbased handbook

and on page 154
Quote AC 3.4 Maintaining confidentiality and the need to disclose information
We saw in LO1 that maintaining confidentiality is important in partnership work in order for others to trust you. There are times, thought, when you would be justified in breaking confidentiality. It is important for everyone working with children to understand the three situations in which you might break confidentiality:

1. when poor practice is identified
2. where a child is at risk
3. when it is suspected that a crime has been/may be committed.
