characteristics of perpetrators and their behaviours?

Help :

Describe known characteristics of perpetrators and their behaviours that can make it difficult for children and young people to report harm or abuse and for others to recognise and address abusive activity

Hi, welcome to the site.

There's a list of perpertrators and behaviours in the Understand how to safeguard and protect children and young people in residential childcare OCR unit

Perpetrators and their behaviours
e.g.
Position of power in the community or organisation
Celebrity status
Fellow resident/peer
Grooming (of the child or young person and those around them)
Threats of reprisals
Promises of rewards
Denial of behaviour as abusive
Targeting boys and young men (in relation to sexual abuse)

If you use the NSPCC website it'll give you greater detail on each of those so you can describe them.

Hth, best wishes

can anyone please help,

Hi a warm welcome to the site. Which definition are you having problems with? xx

There are a few other pages on NSPCC which might help, this one helps to explain grooming

This Guardian article looks at the crimes commited by Jimmy Savile and this one reports on the abuse and cover up perpetrated by The Church of England. These examples show how individuals in positions of power within a community or organisation and those of celebrity status got away with their acts for so long. Halo Effect and fear of damaging a reputation.

Individuals that work in places set up to care for children would expect to receive and be given complete trust. Yet the fear of abuse happening in children's homes continues - Jersey Care Home abuse inquiry and this quote from Raymond Stevenson ' “The consequences mean many vulnerable children continued to suffer at the hands of paedophiles who had infiltrated Lambeth council, because they knew they could peddle their evil.” https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/...oddard-inquiry

Hope this helps a little, best wishes x

I am stuck on this one. As position of power in the community and celebrity status are surely the same thing. How would you describe each term/heading when they are so similar? Obviously, grooming is easy to describe and position of power in the community.

Is there no one else on here doing the residential child care level 3!!!

Arggggghhhhh. So hard doing this diploma whilst working full time.

Thanks
