Aspergers Devise a Creative Activity and a Phyical Activity

Hello all
This is the first time I have posted on here, I am down to my last 2 units, it has been an emotional time getting all my work done! :bawling:

For my next meeting with my tutor I need to:
1. Devise a plan for a creative activity
2. Devise a plan for physical exercise
For some reason struggling to do this :banghead: I was used to writing activity plans for my old job in a preschool but I am now working as a 1-1 with a lovely 6 year old with Asperger's Syndrome (love love my job) but have brain freeze! I can't even think of what format to write it :muttering

I little more background, we have an hour session once a week on our own where we do a social story (to help develop greater social understanding), extra help with his letters and number writing and then a physical activity for example gym ball, balancing, arm strengthening exercises
I am struggling to lay out a plan on paper, think of activities relating to what we do together in our 1 hour together each week and feeling stupid that I have such brain freeze!! I should be able to do this, I work with him all week 2 hours a day..!! sorry I think the pressure to complete whole course for Christmas is getting to me lol!
Any help, advice, pointers would be amazing :With love: Alice

Hi,

Perhaps the teacher is able to hand you a copy of their lessons plans for you to see how they format the plan, that way the format stay consistent with the setting.
I know when I do a plan (as I work 1:1 with a special needs child) I used a basic format of: main, learning outcomes, resources and evaluation. I also include a WILF (what i'm looking for) and WALT (we are learning to) if possible.

A creative activity can tie into number and letter formation as I know when I have done handwriting interventions we don't just use pen and paper but writing in sand, water and paintbrushes on a wall and also foam? That way different materials are being used to make and design images or in this case formations. For a physical activity, providing you have the space/ resources could you not include his friends to set up a friendship circle? You could throw and catch a ball, and only the one who has the ball gets to talk, here you can base the circle on a particular question like what makes a good friend or things we can do to help other children. There are also many books that you could read first and get to answer questions after a story time. This may support their gross motor skills in catching and throwing the ball and also their social development?

Sorry if this is on the wrong lines of what you are asking :)

THANK YOU :cheerful:

Your reply has helped me, I am doing these in my 1-1 session so it will be me and the child I look after only. So my plan has to be just for me and the child I look after.
But going forward I want to start doing plans for playing together so great ideas for future! thank you :o) glad I have found silkysteps everyone is so helpful X X
