Book review and Preschool, nursery activity ideas.

My Penguin Osbert ~ Written by Elizabeth Cody Kimmel and Illustrated by H.B Lewis.

What a find :D !!

This story is about Joe ~ a young boy who after a few 'santa letter misunderstandings .. eg. recieving a miniature car after requesting a full, mod con - state of the art racing machine, sets about this years letter with much more care and detailed information - His wish .. to have his very own ~ real life Penguin called Osbert :D.

When he gets his wish and Osbert the penguin turns up wanting to do all the things Penguins like to do ~ from taking ice cold baths to playing snow slides outside all day long and eating little else but Chilled Herring and Seaweed jam .. Poor Joe can't do anything else but agree and follow suit - after all he asked for Osbert !!

Secretly Joe writes to Santa again ~ asking after his well being and letting him know that he is getting used to doing penguin things .. and not to worry too much about him as it turns out he didn't have frostbite after all ~ although ~ If Santa felt Joe should of asked for a different present ....then it would be okay by him to consider a swap.

When a couple of 'Antartic World' admission tickets arrive later .. Joe soon realises Osbert has found the place where he will live most happily and at the end of a great day, say their tearful goodbyes to each other ... BUT .. Joe returns to visit and begins to plan what he wants for next years Christmas present ... after all it's only 11 months away :wide-eyed :D lol

A fantastic book that makes you chuckle at Joe getting his wish and coming to terms with the consequences .. written beautifully with a 'tongue in cheek' style that just makes you grin !! and the Illustrations are just stunning
