Hi, if you enter 'environment affects a childs development' into the search you'll find threads to help. To contrast what supports children in their environments you could look at how negative an environment could be and the possible effects that would be catastrophic to children's development - eg: if there were no resources in a room, no activities to explore, no other children, no adults or maybe adults that discriminated, punished or ignored, there was no physical warmth, or in summer there was too much heat, no light, maybe too much light, no comfortable flooring, no place to obtain safe drinking water.

Who could children communicate with, express feelings, learn to get along with.
Who could they socialise with, share interests and explore with.
How could children physically exercise their muscles and develop fine and gross motor skills
What would/could children discover/learn about their environment

What expectations are there, that require settings to offer a high quality service that cares for children, their development and learning - regulation, early years framework, inspection, parents
