Stages of learning: Assimilation, equilibrium, disequilibrium, accomodation
Stages of cognitive development: sensori-motor, pre-operational, concrete operational, formal operational.

Behaviourist ---- John B Watson, Ivan Pavlov, Burrhus F Skinner

operant conditioning - negative and positive reinforcers.

Social learning theory also behaviourist ---- Albert Bandura

Heirachy of needs

Attchment theory -- John Bowlby & Mary Ainsworth

The variety of theories relating to development culminate to inform a holistic approach to providing care, learning and developmental opportunities for children's progression and support.

If at all possible can you ask your libaray if they have any of these suggested titles for you to use as a base for research..

book 2 how children learn
book 3 contemporary thinking and theorists
