hello can anybody help me with these two questions please, im really loosing the plot and feel like this:banghead:

k3d402: likely emotions and behavioural responces to communication differences of children under 3 years and how these can be managed in ways that benifit the child?

k3c399: why is it important to allow children to initiate communication and how to recognise signals that indicate that the baby or child wishes to communicate, disengage from communication or does not wish to communicate at all?

Communication differences - likely emotions if their needs are not understood could be tantrums, crying, shrieking and could continue until if they are thirsty, need a nappy changing and being ignored. Could become withdrawn if always ignored.

Managed -
by way of seeing to them, listening, comforting and reassuring them. Getting to know the child - by talking to their parent/main carer and also by having a key person so that a child can build a rapport with the adult caring and looking after them.

A child initiating conversation/signals etc - to encourage independence and choice and allowing them to progress in their language (whether it is body or verbal) at their own development pace, to put their wants and needs over.

importance when they signal they do not want to communicate -
learning to know what a child's signals/gestures mean whether they are tired and want to rest or do not like the activity you are trying to encourage them to play with i.e. you may give them a treasure basket and encourage them to feel the materials you have provided - but they don't like the texture of them - they draw their hand away from the hesian and tweed; because you understand and are sensitive to their needs you remove the materials.

It is always important that you see to a child's needs and respect and value them when or when they don't want to communicate or take part in something.
You need to know how they communicate and what they want to get across if you are to ensure all their needs and wants are seen to. Children need to be loved, cared for and happy for them to thrive and progress.
