4.2 Explain how institutions, agencies and services can affect children and young people’s development.

Please help im so stuck on how to answer this question and this is the last one to get this unit signed off. So far ive put this..

There are many institutions, agencies and services that can affect a child’s or young person’s development. These include social workers, speech and language therapists, paediatricians, voluntary organisations such as NSPCC, behavioural support services. These all help to support a child’s development. A SENCO is usually the named person within the setting that helps identify special education needs and then may organise additional support from outside agencies such as a speech therapist that can help provide exercises that will help develop and improve a child’s speech leading to better communication, confidence and socialisation. A portage worker can help children under the age of five with special needs by working with parents or careers in their own home. The portage worker assesses the child, discusses the area of learning and agrees the steps to be taken with the parents where the parents have the responsibility to carry these out. The portage worker is mainly seen as a support and works in partnership with the parents.

Am I on the right lines ?? what else do I need to talk about :sigh:

I actually didnt realise I had already covered most of this question in CYP3.1 3.2,3.3 & 3.4 so it was cross referenced. We had to do these questions together in a form of a chart and put for e.g Reason language barrier effect on development communication ,social development etc Intervention (people that help) parents , key carers and positive outcomes

Does this make any sense to you?
