Any Tutors out there?

Basically I am a fish out of water.
Have been working on the NVQ3 Diploma since February and due to finish January, Due to a breakdown in communication it is only now that I have discovered that to complete this diploma I have to be a classroom assistant, I am not. :sigh: I work six hours a day in a junior school as a playworker ( acting supervisor) and lunchtime supervisor. Apart from not meeting the criteria the last three units I need to complete are all based on the classroom. Should I quit? Would it be pointless to carry on by blagging it?

you dont have to be a classroom assis to do the dcypw BUT surely you have read the units and could see that you needed to be doing other work to meet the observations? you need to read through it and see your boss and ask them if there are pieces of work you can do to meet them when your assessor comes in. lunchtime supervisor is irrelevant the playwork you could do if youre working with younger children but you need additional vol roles asap

Everyone was telling me I could do it. No one mentioned that to do it I needed to be a classroom assistant not even the tutor. I did not see what all the units entailed until I had signed up. Until now I have been doing very well. Having been in the school enviroment for over 20 years I was confident that it was something I could acheive without too much difficulty. I was given the supervisory roles on condition I complete the level 3 Diploma. (Level 3 + is required for such a positions).
I applied to the head for some hours in the classroom in July but she has been absent since the start of term, the acting head seems very busy and has a lot on her hands, I have asked her to organise some mornings for me but that was a few weeks back and have still yet to hear, I beginning to feel a pest.

Hi, welcome to the site :) can you approach a class teacher whilst waiting for the head to get back to you, maybe ask if your situation has been mentioned to them?

I would ask your tutor to contact the school and discuss what things you need to be observed doing. Mine has been very helpful with us all regarding our placements and observations. If the school want you to be level 3 then I'm sure they will be willing to help.
