what is meant by unambiguous directions, limited choices and definded boundaries for children; why these are important in your responses to behaviour i've covered the unambiguous directions and definded boundaries, well i think i have!! just need a pointer for limited choices, i work in a pre school, any help would be much appriciated! |
if you say to a child which toy would you like you are asking them to process 20 30 choices if you say would you like a construction toy down you are asking them to choose from a selection if you say would you like lego or stickle brick etcetc. each stage can cope with a slightly wider choice but we need to make them feel safe and secure and not overwhelm them with a choice. imagine yourself in a sweet ship being told what would you like to eat first! too many choices!
