Ferry activites - Preschool and Early Years
To add to this thread and move to a look at ferries in general - a new outline template has now been added to Mischief's page - Craft templates and Ferry article from Wikipedia
There is a cute colouring picture available on JackieChan Kids.com - currently the 10th one down .. and some opening conversation titles could be to look at where the water level may come on the ferry.. what happens if the sea or river becomes rough .. and what technology the ferry captain may use to keep in touch with the shore .. What sort of shelter would be good - for the passengers to stay dry in the rain or to avoid water spray and for the Captain & crew to have somewhere warm to go - what windows or places to keep watch could there be and how passengers and other vehicles board the ferry and then leave it .. If anyone has experienced travelling on a Ferry and possibly where they were going ? For this time of year & with due diligence to confidentiality you could chat about families and if ferries have ever been used to visit friends, family. To travel on together or maybe take a holiday .. How a ferry may operate - Cable or Chains, Powered, paddle .. Group songs: Row row row your boat - I see a boat on the water - All aboard all aboard - The big ship sails on the ally-ally-o - A sailor went to sea from the tweenies A familiar & leisurely crossing point for myself used to be the Torpoint Ferry - bridging counties Cornwall and Devon Enjoy any planning for this and if you've experienced introducing ferries to your group setting please feel free to add on .. |
