How do children move through each stage of the hierarchy pyramid??

If you mean Maslow, a person needs to achieve the needs of a level before they can concentrate on ones further up. In context, how is a child meant to do well in school if they basic needs (food, hygiene, shelter etc) are not being fulfilled?
