Say Hello to the Snowy Animals by Ian Whybrow and Ed Eaves This is a very cute book, the touch and feel flocking throughout the book is great for interactivity - I'm not sure how effective it would be for outlining/forming shapes for sight impairement. Its narrative has brilliantly direct, rhyming keywords and looks at greetings, saying hello, replying and ends with Husky - the main character saying goodbye to everyone. Onomatopoeia These are a few of the words that the book lends itself to and that helps to support your children's communication: Husky dog - pack, sleigh and sled Polar bear - cubs and source of food - Grrr grr Snowly owl - fowl, feathers Hoo - Hoo - hoo Caribou - reindeer, herd, antlers, buck, stag, doe - huff huff Whale - orca, ocean, icy, water, fins, dorsal, spout, tail - swish swash swish swash Seal - slide, snow, dive - Honk honk Puffin - Beak, bill, red, blue, yellow, black, grey, orange, white, webbed, food, flowers, wings, stripes - flap flap Arctic hare - paws, tail, jump, speed, warren, thump thump thump from Australia's rscpa If you have activities planned or freeflow access to explore Tracking and footprints / pawprints in the snow or mud maybe this is a great title to have on hand. -------------------------------- Activities for play:
