Hi, I work in a preschool and we just use our display boards to showcase the children's work. If they paint a picture or make a collage we pick a number and put them up with the children's names on so that people know who made what. The Early Years team said that this is what we should be doing, and it saves the hassle of having to come up with ideas for displays. We just change them after a few weeks or when we find things we ant to put up.

maybe the first thing you should be asking is what is the purpose of them? they should be to display the kids work and the best settings often let the children do the displays themselves. keep them low and simple and allow free access. i see some truly hideous "brilliant" displays of identikit adult produced kids work, at the moment perfect chicks and eggs and spring trees! booooring. the best displays are those the kids so and maintain.

at the min we have a spring display tht has a tree the children painted and they have justed made some bunnys that we are gonna put on all the work that goes on the boards are what the children have asked to do there is no adult produced work all the bunnys are different shape/size etc

yeah we do have displays with childrens work on but do feel some look too good if you know what i mean :sigh:
thats why we want more childrens work of how they drawand paint things rather than us helping them etc etc

just put a spring one up with the word spring in the middle then children have drawn there own easter eggs , chicks , bunnies and flowers
it looks fab and parents have commented how nice it is :cheerful::cheerful::cheerful::cheerful:

displays

Hi

We have displays of the childrens work in our setting..... but recently we have put up 3 displays, with photo's on them.

We put some of focused activites ie- making playdough, baking, etc, and we also have pictures of the children doing lots of different things, and have put them under the headings of the 6 areas of learning, and under that heading, put little bullet points such as

Creative Development
  • Begin to be interested in and describe the texture of things
  • Explore colour and begin to differentiate between colours

Our EYFS lady came out to the setting, and thought they were fantastic!!

Hope this helps.

Kim
