I have no clue at all what this question is asking me:(((!!
The second question is - (assess sources of information and support available to promote equality and diversity), this question asks for 5 different sources. I cant even think of 1:(

Hi welcome to the site.

The first is asking, as an early years practitioner? how do you help the community (parents, groups, local business, charity groups, friends, family) understand different cultures and beliefs.

You work directly with children from a range of ethnic and cultural backgrounds? and live within a local community coming into contact with others? What you know about the children's culture, their beliefs, traditions and lifestyles can potentially help others understand as well.

Sources of information can include your colleagues, the setting's policies eg. Equal opportunities, SEN, EYFS framework (if you work in england), parents and families, organisations that specialise in equality issues. What it means by assess is to consider who/what the source is, how relevant and useful it might be.

Page 131 of this level 3 handbook goes into greater detail

Hope this helps, best wishes

I live in England yes! thankyou for your reply. I'm also stuck on "explain how to challenge cultural practices that are harmful and illegal"
is that in the level 3 childcare and education?

Hi, no you'll need to speak to your tutor as you'll need more time to research them thoroughly. Illegal and harmful practices are listed in the RCC unit pdf
  • female genital mutilation (FGM)
  • use of corporal punishment
  • practices arising from attitudes to disability
  • practices arising from attitudes to gender differences
  • practices arising from attitudes to family life
  • practices arising from attitudes to children and childhood.
