Clay Money Impressions

A couple of good simple activities you can do with your children is Clay money impressions!

Great for introducing your currency to them and to look at the shape, size, number and details that appear on the coins.

Clay Impressions 1
Easy activity - All you need ...
A set of coins
Small amount of air dry clay
Rolling pin & cutting board.

  • Knead the clay until it is pliable.
  • Roll it out flat.
  • Press the coins into the clay
  • Remove carefully and see the marks that they made.
Clay Impressions 2
  • Here we cut out lots of clay shapes with the cutters first.
  • Then looked at the coins to see which ones would fit onto the shapes !
  • Press the coins down and lift of carefully .

We love this activity and remember the bit he found most fascinating ~ That all the impressions are 'the wrong way round' :D
