When can confidentiality protocols be breached?
Hi I'm doing level 3 stlis course supporting teaching and learning and just have got myself stuck on "justifythe kinds of situations when confidentially protocols must be breached"
Have you any pointers for me. Thanks |
An example may be if you become aware of any information that will lead you getting a suspicion a child is being abused, then the confidentiality can be breached and its up to the responsible adult to pass on the information to the right professionals.
Basically if you think any child is in significant harm then you should pass on the equivalent information to those who can prevent harm. |
Thanks alot Jo,

No problem :)

There may be situations where confidentiality protocols must be breached such as suspected child abuse or neglect. If we believe that a child may be subjected to child abuse or neglect then it is our responsibility not to ignore this but to pass on the information to the correct person who will deal with it efficiently. If such information has been disclosed then we must tell the child or young person that we cannot withheld this information as it is a serious matter and that we need to report it
