Hi

I will give you some pointers to look into:
  • early identification is paramount
  • huge impact and have a lasting affect on their lives
  • Can have a huge inpact on every area
Short tern affects: ( wrotea paragraph about each of these)
  • Frustration
  • Anger
  • Withdrawn
  • Low levels of confidence
  • Difficulties in friendships (socialising)
  • Difficulties in learning new information
  • Difficulties applying information to new situations
  • Finds it hard to communicate
  • unwanted behaviour (labelled as naughty)
The failure for children who don’t understand verbal instructions can be interpreted as misbehaviour. When children do not understand the children can’t access, store or use new information, this is a big barrier to learning. They will be less likely to demonstrate their knowledge or explain their reasoning. When a child uses language this gives them the ability to establish friendships with other children

Longer term (again i wrote a paragraph about these)
  • Lower self-esteem
  • Not achieved their potential
  • Find it hard to make and maintain relationships
  • Become isolated
  • Not reach independence
  • Developed anti social behaviour in some cases
A person with speech language and communication skills can have a huge impact on literacy development, Academic achievement, social relationships and personal skills, self esteem and confidence levels, emotional and behaviour. This can impact further on employment, socialising, and everyday life chances.

Hope this helps you to get started

Lynne
