National Play in Hospital Week

:D
I was wondering if anyone is celebrating the National Play in Hospital week next week? we were made aware of this new annual promotion by NAHPS,NEC and StarLight Charity to help promote awarness of the importance of play to both well and sick chidren and young people both in the hospital and the community.

We are intrested in hearing any ideas other's celebrating this week may have. We ourselves are putting up 2 display boards one whith information, research and learning on the other with activities the children have done during in the week. We ourselves are using ideas given to us in a pack by NAHPS,NEC and StarLight these are:
Childrens Party
Craft/Art Party
Film Night
Teenage Party
Balloon Launch
Nintento Wii Tornements:dizzy:

Should be an interesting week!

Thanks Ruthierhyme!
Last week didnt get off to the best of starts as due to staff sickness :sneeze:and the "calmness" (we are notallowed to use the Q word here as it tends to tempt fate! :rotfl:) of the ward we didnt do as much as we planned. Although we did do the big end of week party with a brilliant face painter (who used to be a general nurse!) a magician from the POD charity and had the medical photography guy in to take pictures of the party (consent was given by the parents dont worry!),our catering service put out a bit of a party lunch and we put up decorations! it looked fab!,but due to the short notice,"calmness" and it being the first time me and my collegue had planned an event together we were worried that we wouldnt have anyone come!:worried: we even rang round our own staff and pulled outpatients deparment into the plan to try and get numbers! lol and thank goodness we did all the patients waiting for their appoinments in OPD came and joined in the fun while they waited and it ended being a great fun while we raised awarness of the play in hospital week!.We also made a new work connection with the face painter who we are hoping will get involved in our funraising events, children in need being the next!:highfive:
