The least restrictive intervention should always be used when dealing with challenging behaviour to try and promote positive behaviour and inclusion. With my children whenever any challenging behaviour occurs I act appropriate to the incident, after a risk assessment is made I would go to the child young/person by holding them from the side by the top of their arms always talking to them until carm.
For my younger child if they hits, smacks or bites another child then they are removed from playing immediately I would use facial expression/words that help a child to reassess what they are doing.
I would Speak to them about the incident and explain about the rules maybe observations would be carried out to see if there was a trigger for this behaviour.
Safeguarding myself and the child from any more harm
hope this gets you on the right track.:jump:
