What shall we put in the bath?

This went down a storm with my 3-4s today :)
This month's theme is 'daily activities' so we started by talking about bathtime. Then we tested different bath products to see which made the most bubbles.
I put about an inch of water in the bottom of some 500ml clear pastic bottles, then added a little bubble-bath, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, bath salts etc. We talked about which ones might make good bubbles, then I got the kids to choose which they wanted to test and blow through straws into the bottles for a minute or so. We then lined up the bottles and compared how high the bubbles had risen, and decided which substance was best to make a bubbly bath.

Sounds like the kids had a lot of fun.:cheerful: I'm just wondering if any of them sucked the straw instead of blowing?:vomit: :D

*lol* only one - and she spat it out pretty sharpish :D we followed up with bubble painting yesterday and sent 3 home with blue tongues... made the co-teacher panic a bit *oops* but the kids themselves were unfazed.
I imagine you'd have to drink a fair amount of bubblebath before it did you any harm but if we wanted to be hyper-safe then we could have used 'baby' formulations. I demonstrated with the only one that could have been potentially dangerous to a toddler (some pretty virulent-coloured bath salts) because I couldn't read the packaging (everything else was things that I had brought from the UK but they were bought here).

You can also poke a pin hole in the straw, it will let them blow out, but not suck in the paint. :)

Good tip, better safe than sorry eh?
