Hi, if you can refer to a development chart you'll be able to see how as children grow their physical capabilities, coordination and dexterity progress and how development occurs from the head down - gaining control first of the head and top of spine which enables the head to turn ..
Locomotive skills - gross motor: crawl, scoot/shuffle, walk, run, jump, hop, roll, skip, climb, swim, swing, dance, push eg. sit N rides, wheelbarrows Directional - forwards, backwards, sideways, up, higher, down, lower Other gross motor activities: shake/rattle, kick, throw, catch, strike, dodge, spin, slide, heave, lift, pedal, skate, ski .. 1.2. Explain the development of movement skills in young children and how these skills affect other aspects of development. Movement skills Travel (travelling movements where the child moves from one point to another such as running, jumping, skipping)Object control (movements such as throwing, catching, dribbling which involve objects being sent, received, travelled with) Balance and co-ordination If you look at the specific movements that's needed to perform each of these skills you'll be able to see a pattern of muscular, coordinated development that's needed to reach/accomplish them .. Other areas of development - emotional, social, cognitive/learning, language & how children feel when mobile, physically active & able to reach, discover, explore, share & achieve.. National guidance - UK Physical activity guidelines Hth xx |
