hiya jessica....... we did some Eid cards..... one of our parents came in and bought some traditional food and also bought in some traditional clothes for the children to dress up in. We hung Happy Eid signs around. You could perhaps have some photos on a display board. Take photos of all these activites and have the children make it into a book. There are probably simple explanations of what Eid is about on line you could read to the children before starting the activity. We have a whole set of books called "MY Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Christian Faith" One book for each faith which has photos and very simple explanations as if written by children, We use these each time we are covering a different faiths,

Hey ray, thank u sooo much too, ure a lifesaver, i woz reaally stressin out abt dis but u have helped me soo much , thank you :D, for the tradional food wht did u have? I may try to make sum of the foods with the children x

some tradional foods are Biriyani ( savoury rice) Thats a good one because the children could cut the veg into very small pieces, once the rice is cooked they could mix in the veg and perhaps small pieces of cooked chicken. The other traditions are sweet pastries which again the kids can make...... have them make the pastry and wrap it around perhaps dried fruits , wrap them up and then bake them...... cooking activities are great for assesors to see or hear about because you can cover a lot, . .. .. measuring, sharing, taking turns, communication and knowledge and understanding ( seeing how things change from liquids to solids etc

Here is a nice simple recipe that we have used with children under five. Depending on their age and stage they have also made and decorated a little box or basket to put them in.

Eid Resources (for Eid al Fitr and Eid al-Adha)
Sweets

At both celebrations sweets are given to children. There are many sweet recipes you can use here is one example. Children could also decorate little boxes or cartons to put them in, or make their own.

•8oz. icing sugar
•5 tablespoons of condensed milk
•few drops of food flavouring (peppermint, almond, lemon or orange)
•few drops of food colouring

Mix ingredients into a fairly stiff dough, put icing sugar onto a table or board and give each child a piece. The dough could be made into round sweets or, cutters could be used to make star or moon shapes. Sweets could be decorated with 'hundreds and thousands'. Marzipan could also be used to make sweets.
