Ongoing survey & statistical data collection is being carried out across Scotland that is asking for volunteer help in noticing & reporting sightings. DundeeRedSquirrel.co.uk has a very user friendly way of reporting information & ScottishSquirrelSurvey.co.uk has much relevant information on its site. Download page from DundeeRedSquirrel Squirrel pox seems to be the largest threat to the Reds - a viral disease that kills Red quirrels 15 days from infection. Greys appear to have the necessary antibodies to protect themselves from the disease.
