Walking bus scheme

As a parent - Work Commitments & travel timetables can make 'walk to school' initiatives hard to participate in .... see if your school is or would consider organising a 'Walking bus'

Deven.gov.uk has a great PDF available that outlines what A walking bus is and how you can start one up in your locality:

All about the Walking Bus scheme ~ But please contact your own council with details & queries about the scheme.

Agreat opportunity to show the children their immediate environment and promtoe their sense of belonging.

What types of shops are along the route
How many & what sort of crossings are used.
What houses .. bungalows, flats, parks are passed?

Make an Autumn wall display of the walking bus route !!
Personalise the 'passengers by letting them do self portraits.

Look at road safety in general & make some road signs .. what signs or messages would the children like to see? this way to the Ice Cream van would be mine :D lol

:cheerful: Please post your ideas or expreiences of using a scheme like this.
