Duck, duck goose is quite a fun circle (ring) game. All the children sit in a circle & one child is chosen to walk around the circle gently touching each child on their head saying 'duck' 'duck' 'duck' as they touch each child. After a few times of saying 'duck' they touch the next child & say 'goose'. The child who was 'goosed' has to stand up & chase the first child around the circle. The first child has to run around the circle & sit in the goose's place. The 'goosed child then has to go round the group saying 'duck' etc. This goes on until children get bored or all have had a turn!

I sent a letter to my love

"I sent a letter to my love
and on the way i dropped it
somebody must have picked it up and put it in their pocket
please please drop it
hurry up and drop it"

children sit in a circle the child who's on walks around the outside of circle with a scrap of paper in their hand while all sing the rhyme. They drop the paper behind a child then run around the circle the other child runs after them till the original 'on' child reaches the empty space and sits down then all starts again

Here we go round the mulberybush,
In & out the dusty blue bells,
Oranges & lemons (not exactly a circle game but a good group game none the less!)

We also play Duck, Duck, Goose. We vary it slightly depeding on our topic for space we did astronaut, astronaut, alien, for water we did fish, fish, shark. for spring we did rabbit, rabbit, fox. theres absolutely loads of ideas you can do.

we also play stars and catcher which the kids adore. you have a few catchers i usually pick two depending on how confident and willing the children are. The children that are on stand away from the fence and shout "star light star bright, how many stars are out tonight? and the rest of the kids stand by the fence and shout " more than you can catch. at this point the must ran from one fence to the other without getting caught. If they do get caught then they become a catcher. the winner is the onne or two left at the end.
