K3D698 - What is meant by unambiguous directions, limited choices and defined boundaries for children; why these are important in your responses to behaviour

Unambiguous directions - I suppose is all about thinking which words you are using with the children (particularly pre-school or those with autism who can take things very literally) - instead of saying "pull your socks up", say "please can you hurry up and finish..."! (sorry, bad example as you probably don't say that anymore but do you get what I mean?!):blush: I was teaching PE to a group of 4-5 year olds and, when they were getting changed, one child began to cry uncontrollably. When I asked him what was wrong, he said he couldn't get changed because his mum hadn't given him any "bare/bear feet"!!!:rotfl: |
